STREET/RACE Magazine, the newest print-and-digital title from the renowned publishers of leading independent drag racing magazine DRAG ILLUSTRATED, announced today that the King of the Streets eliminator winner during the 2016 running of the Texas Invitational will be featured on the cover of the brand-new magazine’s Spring 2017 issue.
“We couldn’t be more excited to have the opportunity to celebrate the winner of what is inarguably the most talked-about, competitive and awe-inspiring roll-racing event on the planet,” said Wes Buck, founder and editor of STREET/RACE Magazine, of the private air strip racing event coming up on October 14-15 at Caddo Mills Municipal Airfield near Dallas, Texas.
The Texas Invitational, widely known as the pinnacle of high-caliber automotive airfield competition, was developed in 2010 in an effort to curtail illegal street racing and create a new breed of automobile competition featuring side-by-side races from a rolling 60 mph start over a distance of 1,550-feet.
“There has been an air of mystery and mystique to the Texas Invitational since the very beginning,” continued Buck. “Events like this were the original inspiration for STREET/RACE Magazine. It is unbelievably exciting to have established a relationship with the Texas Speed Syndicate and their prestigious Texas Invitational and we’re excited to be a part of the festivities down in Texas.
“While there is a ton of buzz and digital media surrounding the Texas Invitational and a lot of glory that comes with being crowned King of the Streets, we’re truly excited to create a permanent written record of what happens on the legendary runways of Caddo Mills and forever celebrate the victor on the cover of the magazine – a magazine created explicitly for the high-performance street car community.”
Along with the King of the Streets winner being featured on the cover of STREET/RACE Magazine, the Spring 2017 issue will include extensive race coverage driver/tuner interviews and profiles from the Texas Invitational, while StreetRaceMag.com will be updated throughout the course of the event with news, results, pictures and videos from each day of competition.
