Street Car of the Week: Joey Hiykel’s Infamous “Beater Bomb”

The “Beater Bomb” is a great example of our motto “Street Driven, Raced Anywhere.” This is one of the roughest, most well known grudge racing machines on the planet. Years ago Joey Hiykel of Omaha, Nebraska, took this beat up looking 1990 Mustang LX and dropped in a 5.3 LS motor with a Nitrous Express kit. Little did Joey know his beat up looking Fox Body would get the attention it has.  As he took it to more and more races, the word spread quickly and everyone wanted to get a shot at him. Street or track, Joey would never turn down a race. Put in the word “Beater Bomb” in YouTube and you will see numerous races like this one below from 1320Video.

Years went on and the Beater Bomb had won countless street races and cash days on his LS Nitrous setup. But the times were changing and cars were getting faster as the Beater Bomb was getting more well known. After losing a few cash days and realizing he was at his peak for his current setup, Joey decided it was time to step it up and go turbo. For the past year or so, Joey has been trying to get his new Turbo setup dialed in and from his past few races we think hes got it figured out pretty good. Can’t wait to see what the future has in store from this beast of a beater!

Check out the video below from 1320Video from his most recent no-prep event!
