The second version of the M3 produced by BMW was the E36 and was introduced to North America in 1995. Personally I think this model was a milestone for the M series as it was the first M3 to come equipped with a Inline Six cylinder producing over 240hp. These cars from factory are a treat to drive fast and they handle amazing.
Walking through the pits at Street Car Takeover Charlotte, I met John from CES Motor Sport out of North Carolina. CES Motor Sport is a Top European Car Performance Shop located just on the outside of Charlotte, NC specializing in Mild to Extreme Performance Enhancements and Modifications for BMW, Porsche or Mercedes. They had a couple of their built street cars out at ZMAX that day and even though they were stock looking, they were far from it. John’s M3 has a fully built 3.2L Motor with a single Borg Warner 8374 EFR Turbo thats producing around 700whp. Equipped with Toyo R888 18″ street tires, John ran a 10.40s @ 138 mph in 90 degree weather. For a fully streetable M3 this car was pretty fast and is definitely quite the sleeper. Watch the video above from RWYB Racing as John competed in both Roll Racing and Drag racing.
