After being held by EKanoo Racing for what seems like forever, the Nissan GT-R quarter-mile ET record has made its way back to the United States courtesy of Gidi Chamdi and AMS Performance. Chamdi piloted his Diamonds By Wire-sponsored, Alpha Performance-built “Alpha-G” Nissan GT-R to a stunning 7.145-second, 212mph this past Thursday afternoon at Milan Dragway in Michigan. Chamdi And AMS Performance were beyond ecstatic to have achieved the quickest pass ever recorded with the highly popular Nissan GT-R platform.
“I couldn’t be happier, man. It was an unbelievable day,” says Chamdi. “When we first got to the track it was cold and slippery and, honestly, I was a little worried about how narrow the track was at first – the walls are so close. As the day went on the sun came out and the track kept getting progressively better as it warmed up. The track prep was amazing and took all the power we could throw at it, which was a first for us at any track. The conditions were perfect for a world record run; the track in excellent condition and the temperature in the upper 50s. The car was running perfect, too, and on the record pass we turned the car up to about 60-pounds of boost. I know we still have quite a bit more in the car and we hope to break into the six-second range soon.”
“I have to thank the whole crew at AMS for building this car,” continues Chamdi. “For sticking with it and pushing through the bad days. Also I’d like to thank Dodson Motorsports, Shep Trans, Syvecs, and the Drive Shaft Shop for all the great parts that went in to that car. Boyan Radomirov for help with tune, Martin Musial for the magic in that car and Ricky Rick for building it. I know that this record will fall like the rest, especially with all the great, motivated shops like T1, ETS and EKanoo Racing that are running some monster cars, but for the precious days that we hold this record, we can be sure that all that hard work paid off. This sport brings much joy when the cars are running like my Alpha G ran on that record setting day.”
