Scott Birdsall of Santa Rosa, California, never thought his $225 Ford F1 barn find would turn into one of the most talked about trucks in 2016.
At first, Birdsall just wanted to make it a working, driving shop truck with updated suspension and drivetrain. One thing let to another and he found himself swapping to a more powerful engine, switching up the turbos, upgrading the brakes and he even ended up scrapping the original chassis for a more stout tube frame.
The truck’s unique build caught some attention on Instagram and Facebook and led to various companies wanting to work with Birdsall. When all said and done, his barn find F1 now named “Old Smokey”, evolved into one of the craziest 1000-horsepower diesel trucks on the planet.
