Okay so we may ruffle a couple feathers making this post, but this kind of thing could have been prevented and needs to be addressed. I’m making this post not to come down on the event coordinator but to talk about one of the most important factors that is sometimes forgotten while putting on any racing event, and that is safety. Now I understand racing isn’t exactly “safe”, but making sure the racing environment is as safe as it can be should be the number one focus for any event.
Watching this video makes me cringe as the drivers pedal and get loose all the way down the parking lot and ending with a pretty bad wreck. I know accidents happen on both the street and a well prepped drag strip, but racing in a stadium parking lot with a bad surface and minimal shutdown area is not ideal for any caliber of cars, especially ones as serious as these.
